Wildcats Like Texas Running Back

Lamar Consolidated RB Jacquizz Rodgers is one of the top backs not yet committed in the Lone Star State. Kid is a Texas Top 25-type talent, he's that special. So which six schools extended offers to the State's No. 1 scat-back, who as a junior in 2006 rushed for a mind-boggling 2,500 yards and 52 TDs?

Already sporting scholarship offers from a six-pack of universities do not be surprised to see Jacquizz Rodgers in the double digits as more colleges learn more about the Barry Sandersesque running back.

"Right now I have offers from Oregon State, SMU, Baylor, Louisiana Tech, Arizona and UTEP who was the latest school to offer me," Rodgers told Scout.com.

Thoughts on his Faves?

Oregon State: "I don't know too much about them. But they're a pretty good program in the Pac-10 and I'm looking forward to learning more about them from Coach Danny Langsdorf."

Arizona: "They're the best offer I got so far, I think. But I haven't talked to them much since Coach Eric Wolford left the program (and went to Illinois). Dana Dimel is the coach recruiting me for Arizona now. But I'd like to hear more from them."

Baylor: "All I know is that they're a pretty good school, in the Big 12 South, and close to home. But I'm sure Coach Cornell Jackson and Coach Jason Phillips will show me a lot more."

Kansas State: "I've talked to one of their coaches before but I'm not sure if they're going to offer. I'd like to get an offer from them because I have seen them develop smaller running backs who have done very well there. Out of the schools who haven't offered I guess they're the one school I would like to get an offer from."

UTEP: "They're in the mix for sure. Until I can get out and take some official visits everyone has a chance."

Louisiana Tech: "Same as UTEP. I need to see these schools before I can really say how much I like them. So I'm still looking at all of the schools who have offered me."

SMU: "Again, they're a school I am interested in too. I'm going to look at everybody offering me."

Summer Camp Agenda: "I've mostly been just working out in our offseason program."

Commitment Time Frame: "I want to take all of my official visits first. And, then I'll make my commitment-decision."

Notes/Numbers to Consider...

Stat Package: "I rushed for a little over 2,500 yards, scored 52 total touchdowns, a couple of them were pass-catching touchdowns, with 50 of them on the ground."

Weight Room Numbers: "245 Bench, 215 Incline, 500 Squat, 220 Power Clean."

Academics: "My GPA averages out to a little over a 90 (out of 100) and I scored a 17 on the ACT. But I'm going to retake the ACT in September."
