Cali Sack Master Names K-State #1

The JC Cali Calamity Grant Valentine who gets after quarterbacks faster than you can say: "One Mississippi," took a little time out to talk to He talks scholarship offers, official visit agenda, stat packages, and, Oh, by the way, gave us his No. 1. Go Inside Now! Get THE absolute latest on KSU's sexiest, and No. 1 Rush End, on The Nation's K-State Take-Board…

3-4 defensive schemes are beginning to make their way into the college game and that has talented sack artists a la Grant Valentine excited about the prospects of becoming the next Shawne Merriman, or the next Demarcus Ware (6-4/257)...

"Washington State is seriously looking at running the 3-4 next year," Valentine told "West Virginia already runs the 3-4 and so does K-State. So several teams are looking at me and the kind of impact I can make as a rush end."

"It's exciting," the Glendale edge rusher continued, "Because I know I want to rush the passer and these schools want me to play rush end, where I can get after the quarterback. And, I love doing that."

Kid did that the tune of 24 sacks in two seasons, just falling one sack shy of breaking the Glendale career sack record. However, in his last two games where he went sack-less, Valentine forced 7 picks by hurrying the two opposing field generals into a bad decision, count it, seven times, essentially forcing seven turnovers because of those Corvette wheels and Hot Sauce moves of his...

Despite the recent on-the-field results for the Cats lacking the kind of effort that'll make Kansas State alumni, coaches and fans happy, the behind-the-scenes recruiting front work on display this week would make those same KSU alumni, coaches and fans proud, with the third of a back-to-back-to-back major recruiting target story with all three targets naming K-State No. 1…

It's really no big secret anymore. K-State needs to beef up its 85-man roster with some better talent and they are certainly well on their way to doing just that…

"I like K-State," Valentine quipped. "K-State's my No. 1 team right now. I like the 3-4 Defense they play. They want me to come in there and get after the passer which is what I specialize in. Plus, they offered me a long time ago. They recruit me and call me every week. So I know they're committed to me and have big things planned for me."

Perhaps coming in at the No. 2 spot would be "Fresno State" followed by "Washington State, West Virginia, N.C. State and Ole Miss."

Official Visit Agenda: "I've got an official visit set up for K-State January 18 and I am hoping to get set one up with Fresno State. Then, I guess you could say I would like to also visit Washington State and West Virginia but I haven't really talked about setting an official visit up with those guys yet."

Commitment Time Frame: "I guess you could say that I would like to take four official visits. Then, after taking those official visits, I will be able to make a decision, a good decision."
