El Camino CB Lamar Chapman Pulls Trigger

El Camino CC cornerback pulls commitment trigger today opting for the Utah Utes over Kansas State and San Diego State (who he had "planned on officially visiting this weekend," at least up until the Utah coaches came in and talked to him about his commitment to them "being a marriage"). Chapman closes up shop but not without a few shout outs below...

"I just felt like Utah was a better fit, for me personally, my situation," Lamar Chapman told KStateFans.com last night. "That's why I'm canceling my official visit to San Diego State this weekend. And I would just like to say a couple of things about San Diego State coaches who I have a lot of respect for and love for, Coach Holt and Coach Naz because I had to cancel those plans and really did not want to do that to them."

"And, I would really like to say a few words about the K-State coaches," Chapman continued. "Coach P (Ron Prince) is awesome. And, Coach Jay Kaiser, the recruiting coordinator is a first-class guy, from the get-go, all the way till the end, and I appreciated him for that."

"Coach Greg Burns is the best recruiter that I ever talked to, period," Chapman sharing more info regarding why he had Kansas State so high on his list said. "He is the greatest recruiter there is. And, no one outworked Coach Burns."

Some would say the Ute coaches did. But it was a location, "best for me" and "better depth chart, I thought at the end of the day for me, to go in and start right away."

"I got a lot of love for K-State," Chapman added, "They gave me an opportunity to go to Manhattan to further my education and my playing career. K-State is a top-notch school, a first class program, with excellent coaches, and no one recruited me harder than K-State."

The Cats are hoping to add at least two lock down cornerbacks from the JUCO ranks and already have one stud in their corner, Kennard Banks of Dodge City CC. Adding yet another to tandem with Banks remains high on Prince and his Staff's priority list.
