K-State Comes Up Short at Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. - Denis Clemente led Kansas State with 19 points, but Oregon held off the Wildcats, 75-70, Sunday night at McArthur Court in a Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series matchup.

Clemente was one of four Wildcats in double figures as Jamar Samuels had 14 points, Ron Anderson pitched in 12 and Fred Brown 10. K-State shot 42-percent for the game but turned the ball over 20 times on the night.

K-State (5-3) took a 38-35 lead at halftime as Clemente hit a running three pointer just as time expired in the first 20 minutes.

The Wildcats took a 40-37 lead early in the second half but the Ducks then went on a 10-0 run to retake the lead, capped by a three-pointer from Tajuan Porter. Down 54-46, Kansas State battled back several times in the second half and a Samuels free throw with 2:48 remaining closed the gap to one at 69-68.

With the Ducks ahead, 71-68, Clemente drew an offensive foul with :29 remaining to negate a made field goal and Oregon sealed the win with four free throws down the stretch.

Porter scored a season-high 28-points to lead the Ducks, while Garrett Sim added 16 points and LeKendric Longmire had 13 for the 4-4 Ducks.
