Block Party -Snyder's First Group of Recruits

A small but highly skilled and VERY important group of recruits visited Manhattan this weekend to kick off the first major visits of the Bill Snyder Era. Originally reporting that we'd have a slightly larger group, do not discount the quality of players who made the stop and were introduced to all things Purple this weekend.

Topping off the list, of course, is Bryce Brown, the all-everything 5 star RB from Wichita East High School. Bryce headed up to Manhattan early yesterday, and shared with my sources that he was very excited about the unofficial visit. Bryce made the trip with his family and was scheduled to attend the Mens basketball game Sunday evening to round out his trip.

Previously profiled on, Corey Henry, strong side Defensive End from Carol City, Florida was also in attendance. Receiving an offer from Kansas State in late November, Henry has been on the Wildcats mind for some time. Facing challenges for Henry's services from Kentucky, West Virginia and Florida International, who also have made an offer, the 'Cats coaching staff is highly focused on this youngster who could bring much needed speed and toughness to the defensive line.

Already committed to K-State, Kadero Terrell, 2 star Inside Linebacker from Garden City CC, will sign with the 'Cats on Wednesday during JUCO Signing Day. Having spoken to my sources close to the program, this is one kid the coaches are super stoked about. More on him later, Stay Tuned to KStateFans....

Collin Ashley from Flower Mound Texas, a 3 star DB rated #61 at the position, came to Manhattan to talk offense and have a closer look at where he would fit in the New Wildcat Offense under Coach Snyder. Capable of playing on both sides of the ball, the word we are hearing is Ashley is looking at the offensive side of the ball for the 'Cats and the staff is projecting him at the Wide Receiver position. While no offer was made over the weekend, we're expecting one to break soon as the offensive coaches all weigh in on things and make their determination.

Listed at committed to Cal, JUCO Linebacker from Blinn JC Jarred Price (2 star/4 star) also stopped in Manhattan this weekend to check out the Purple and the New Coaching Staff. The 'Cats have extended an offer, and you can be sure that Mo Latimore is working his mojo in an attempt to bring him over to the good side. It'll help tremendously that we're looking at any number of kids from Blinn JC for this class, so expect this recruiting tussle to get hot and heavy for Price's presence in the middle of this defense. Settle in for a good old fashion brawl and for those of you long time followers of the program, apologies - for those new to following the Cats, Coach Snyder loves his defenses and rest assured he recruits to his system.

Looking across the nation for talent, a pair of New Orleans prospects were brought in this weekend to round out the visiting class. Both from Edna Karr Magnet School in New Orleans: 1 star O-Lineman Cornelius Lucas and 1 star Cornerback Shakiel Smith were both in town to talk with the coaches.

Lucas, sporting a 6-8 frame, has plenty of growing left and time to add to his athletic 280 pounds. Listed with "High" interest in K-State, he's also hearing from Louisiana, Tulane, Southern Miss and ULM.

Shakiel Smith, with good size at 5'11 and 180, also received an offer from the 'Cats during his visit. UConn, Southern Miss, Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM are also in the running for the talented CB.
