"Very excited and nervous at the same time," said Gipson about the opportunity in the WNBA. "Having Shalee there and going through the experience together will make it easier."
When asked about the duration of her stay with the Dream, Gipson stated that it will be a tryout only basis with no guarantees for a contract at the end of training camp.
Gipson, a two-time All-Big 12 second team selection, finished her senior season with a school record 86 blocked shots and ranked 20th in the nation in the category. She tallied a career-high 13.4 points per game on a career-best .513 field goal percentage. Gipson also hauled in 6.7 rebounds per game and played a career-high 1,017 minutes.
The product of McPherson, Kan., concluded an outstanding four-year career ranked first in school history and third in Big 12 history for career blocks with 257. She also ranks fifth in school history with 811 rebounds for her career and 13th in school history for career points with 1,313. She finished her career as the sixth player in school history to record 1,000 points and 800 rebounds for her career.
Atlanta begins its training camp on May 15 and will play one exhibition game against Connecticut on May 27 before the start of the regular season on June 6.
