Chambers helped the Wildcats to a 2-1 record last week and was named to the Commerce Bank Wildcat Classic All-Tournament Team honors. The native of Belle Plaine, Minn., averaged 16.3 points on a .600 field goal percentage, including .444 from the 3-point line. She also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.3 steals. She has now scored in double figures in five straight games and six of her first eight career games.
Chambers opened her week with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from the three-point line and six rebounds at Arkansas. She also hauled in a then-career-high six rebounds against the Razorbacks.
In Friday's Wildcat Classic opener, Chambers tallied 18 points on a career-best 7-of-8 shooting from the field, including 2-of-3 from the three-point line. The .875 field goal percentage by Chambers was a season-high by a Wildcat this season.
In the title game against Missouri State, Chambers registered 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting. She also hauled in a career-high seven rebounds, including five offensive boards, tied her career-high for assists with three and played a career-high 40 minutes.
For the season, Chambers ranks 20th in the Big 12 in scoring at 13.3 per game (second among the league's freshman), sixth in the league in three-point field goal percentage at .543 and ninth in three-point field goals made per game at 2.4.
This is the 15th time a Wildcat has earned the Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor and the first since Jalana Childs earned the distinction on Feb. 16, 2009. The weekly honor is the second by a Wildcat this season, as Ashley Sweat earned Big 12 co-Player of the Week honors on Nov. 23.
Kansas State returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 13, as the Wildcats host Northwestern at 2 p.m.
