Miller takes first official

Since decommitting from the University of Kansas back in May, Blue Springs (MO) High School running back Darrian Miller has taken a measured approach to the recruiting process.

Taking the time to explore all his options and gather as much information is possible, the 2009 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year is now starting to schedule and take his official visits – the first of which he returned from Sunday afternoon.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have a reputation for cranking out productive collegiate running backs, and have been one of the programs at the top of Miller's list for months. This weekend, he took the first of his five officials to Iowa City, and came away duly impressed.

"It was really good," Miller said, of the visit.

Though he left Iowa City without making a commitment, he did specify that the Hawkeyes are out in front with him.

Some prospects may tire of the grind the recruiting process can become, but Miller is still taking it all in stride, and won't make a decision until after he's taken his officials.

"Recruiting is cool," he said. "(I'm) kinda letting things fall into place."

Next up? A visit to the University of Kansas the weekend of Oct. 22. The Jayhawks snagged a commitment from Miller early in the process, and remain firmly in the hunt for his services.

No other visits have been scheduled to date. Miller also possesses scholarship offers from Kansas State, Louisville, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Top Stories
