If this were NBA Jam, Tyrel Reed would be on fire.
The senior shooting guard came out of the gates firing Monday night, burying his first three-point attempts, helping the Kansas Jayhawks build an early lead in the second official game of 2010.
Kansas looked lethargic on the defensive end to start the game, as the smaller, quicker Valpo posts beat them repeatedly for rebounds. Forward Cory Johnson and guard Brandon Wood had five and four rebounds in the half respectively.
Sophomore power forward Thomas Robinson entered the game shortly after the first media timeout, however, and immediately provided a spark down low. Robinson did a little bit of everything, gathering four rebounds, scoring six points and blocking three shots in 13 minutes of action.
Marcus Morris leads all scorers with 12 points, also collecting eight rebounds.
