Selby cleared, suspended for 9 games

The Kansas men's basketball program announced Monday night that highly-touted freshman Josh Selby has been cleared for competition, but will serve a nine game suspension.

Well, to paraphrase the words of President Gerald Ford, delivered during his inaugural address in 1974, the long national nightmare for Kansas fans is over.

Josh Selby has been cleared to play.

The highly-touted freshman guard – a McDonald's All-American from Baltimore – has been the subject of a months-long investigation into his amateur status by the NCAA.

Selby will serve a nine-game suspension, putting him on the court Dec. 18 as the Jayhawks take on the University of Southern California at Allen Fieldhouse. He will also pay back $5,757.58 in impermissible benefits to the charity of his choice.
