Scott Williams says no contracts have been signed, no secret deals have been reached. The former Lawrence High and North Carolina basketball player thinks his famous father -- Kansas University coach Roy Williams -- flew Friday night to Los Angeles for Wooden Award ceremonies still undecided whether he'll remain coach at KU or take over at UNC.
Roy Williams is still expected to become North Carolina's basketball coach, despite extending talks with school officials about the job, four sources close to the program said yesterday.
While there appears to be a "done deal" mentality in Carolina, sources in Kansas believe it's no slam dunk Williams will return to his alma mater. Interim KU athletic director A. Drue Jennings met with Williams for 30 minutes Thursday after reading Baddour's statement on the Internet.
"You guys (media) have been around coach Williams as much as I have," Jennings said. "He's genuine in the heart and soul he puts into that kind of a decision.
