Jayhawk Invitational: Year Three

The Jayhawk Invitational kicks off this evening, with at least one potential KU target scheduled to play throughout the weekend.

Joseph Jones will play with the Houston Select. The 6'8 C is from Normangee High in Texas.

"Jones is one of the top big men in the Midwest. He's a prospect who has great size and is one of the better rebounders in his class," said Dave Telep, TheInsiders.com.

"He's starting to get more aggressive and offensive minded," said Telep.

Jones has recently been visited and/or evaluated by Arkansas, Texas, Arizona, Houston, Texas A & M, and North Carolina. Kansas State and Marquette have also shown interest.

Houston Select is scheduled to play at 10:10 Friday evening at Horejsi Center. Saturday the team is set for 4:30 and 8:15 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse.

Potential KU target Bryce Taylor was expected to play with California Pump and Run. However the will not be accompanying his teammates to Lawrence. Spectators will not have the opportunity to witness Taylor's long range shooting ability.

"Bryce is a very talented scorer, with one of the best shots in the West," said Tracy Pierson of Prepwesthoops.com. "His range is almost unlimited and he knows how to get it off, using screens and creating his own space."

"He's also good at driving to the basket and has good athleticism," added Pierson.

Taylor is considering a long list of schools with Oregon being heavily involved.

Neither Jones or Taylor has an offer from Kansas.
