Ever since, the Class of 2012 prospect has had a hard time getting Kansas off his mind.
"That's what I want to be a part of," Pope said. "They have the best coaching staff, Coach (Kurt) Townsend, Coach (Joe) Dooley and all those guys. And obviously they bring in talent, and that's what I want to be surrounded by."
A self-described "patient" point guard who looks to set up his teammates before scoring himself, the West Coast product currently claims an impressive offer list which includes Baylor, Central Michigan, Gonzaga, Maryland and California-Santa Barbara, as well as interest from a host of others.
With seniors to be across the country looking to set visits, Pope is hoping to hit Lawrence, Kan. for season-opening festivities in mid-October, for "Late Night in the Phog" - though nothing has been set as of yet.
"That's what I'm hoping for," he said, of attending Late Night and earning an offer. "I think that's what's gonna happen. My mom will be up there and (the staff will) get to see me and my family, and we'll get the full feel for it."
