White sets Kansas visit

The list of visitors for Legends of the Phog continues to grow. With the likes of 2012 star Archie Goodwin, current commit Zach Peters and 2013 standout Julius Randle already planning to attend the Sept. 24 exhibition event, another top-flight 2012 prospect will be in the crowd on an official of his own - Charlottesville (VA) The Miller School guard Andrew White.

White confirmed the visit with Phog.net Thursday afternoon.

"Yes sir," the four-star shooting guard said. "24th of this month."

White recently picked up an offer from the Kansas coaching staff, after an impressive summer on the AAU circuit. The Jayhawks have been tracking him since June, and have put themselves firmly in the mix for his services - along with the likes of Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, North Carolina State, Texas and more.

In late August, shortly after receiving the offer, White told Phog.net the winning history of Kansas, their track record of developing wings, the academics and the fan base were all factors that made them worth a closer look.

"As a player who put the work I've put in, that's something you always need to at least consider and look into," White said, of a program the caliber of Kansas. "So I'm probably going tot ake a visit and try to get a feel for the staff, and see how much I'm really wanted - how I can fit into the program."

Sept. 24 would certainly seem to be the ideal situation for such an evaluation to take place. It was announced by Kansas Athletics this week the star-studded alumni event had sold out - which means 16,300-plus will fill Allen Fieldhouse that afternoon to see some of their favorites square off again on James Naismith Court. Confirmed participants include players such as Paul Pierce, Nick Collison, Cole Aldrich, The Morris Twins, Mario Chalmers and a host of others.
