In-home visits kick off Friday

With the opening of the September contact period, coaches throughout the country will hit the road Friday to begin the in-home visit process with their targets in the Class of 2012. For the Kansas Jayhawks, that means Perry Ellis - the in-state star at whom Bill Self and his staff get the first crack.

Ellis, who has a final four of Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky and Wichita State, has set in-home visits with three of his four finalists.

The Jayhawks are up first Friday night, followed by Head Coach Frank Martin and the Wildcats on Sept. 12. Hometown Wichita State - Ellis is a senior at Wichita (KS) Heights High School - will stop by Sept. 13.

No official visits have yet been set by Ellis, though it is assumed those dates will begin to emerge following the in-homes.

Ellis isn't the only high-profile prospect whom the Jayhawks will be traveling to see in the days ahead. Shabazz Muhammad,'s No. 1 player in the Class of 2012, will host the Kansas staff Sept. 14.

Muhammad also has in-homes set with UCLA (Sept. 9), UNLV (Sept. 10), Duke (Sept. 12) and Kentucky (Sept. 13).

At this point, only one official visit has been set, to Kentucky on Oct. 14. Top Stories
