Weekend Report: KU commits in action

Clarksville (TX) High quarterback H.B. Rosser and his four touchdown performance highlighted an impressive weekend of play from the eight prospects currently committed to the University of Kansas in the Class of 2012.

Brian Beckmann - Overland Park (KS) Blue Valley West - 6-foot-6.5, 310 lbs - OT:

With their big left tackle still nursing an injury, the Jaguars fell 29-46 Friday night to Olathe South. With the loss, BVW drops to 2-5 on the year.

Next up, an Oct. 28 tilt with rival Blue Valley Northwest.

Daniel Gray - Lauderdale Lakes (FL) Boyd H. Anderson - 5-foot-11, 165-pounds - CB:

Though individual stats for the game were unavailable, Gray and the Cobras picked up a big 44-34 Friday night win over Coconut Creek (FL) Monarch to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Next up, an Oct. 28 match-up with Pompano Beach (FL) Ely.

Derek Keaton - Camden (AR) Fairview - 5-foot-11, 165 pounds - ATH:

Playing RB and WR for the Cardinals, Keaton had a huge game in a 40-14 Friday victory over Hope (AR) High.

At tailback, he carried nine times for 139 yards - a 15.4 yards per carry average - and a touchdown, including a long of 80 yards. At wideout, he hauled in a team-leading four receptions for 23 yards with a long of 13.

The Cardinals will next take on Hot Springs (AR) High on Oct. 28, and are now 7-1 on the year.

Bilal Marshall - Miami-Dade Christian - 6-foot-2, 170 pounds - QB:

In leading the Crusaders to a blowout 55-0 victory over Fort Lauderdale (FL) South Florida HEAT High School, Marshall had his finest passing performance of the season to date. The athletic senior completed 8-of-12 passes for 220 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions.

On the ground, he tacked on one carry for 31 yards. Dade Christian next takes to the field Oct. 28, versus Hollywood (FL) Sheridan Hills Christian. The Crusaders are now 6-1 on the season.

H.B. Rosser - Clarksville (TX) High - 5-foot-10, 170 pounds - ATH:

The dual-threat Rosser - who will likely play cornerback in college for the Jayhawks - has been a monster offensively for Clarksville this season both through the air and on the ground.

Friday he continued the trend, completing 5-of-8 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown, while tacking on 154 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

The Tigers improved to 7-1 on the season, and next take on Honey Grove (TX) High on Oct. 28.

Seth Russell - Garland (TX) High - 6-foot-3, 195 pounds - QB:

In a 51-0 Oct. 20 shutout victory over Garland (TX) Lakeview Centenniel, the big quarterback went 8-of-13 for 101 yards and a touchdown - with one interception - while adding 17 yards and another touchdown on the ground.

Garland improved to 6-2 on the season, and will take on Garland (TX) Naaman Forest on Thursday night.

Jordan Smith - Waco (TX) Reicher Catholic - 6-foot-5, 225 pounds - TE:

Individual stats for the game were not available, but the Cougars fell 44-14 on Friday night to Mesquite (TX) Dallas Christian. Looking to halt a two-game losing skid, Reicher Catholic will face off with Cedar Hill (TX) Trinity Christian on Oct. 28.

The Cougars are 4-3 on the season.

De'Jon Wilson - Washington (D.C.) Wilson - 6-foot-3, 230 pounds - OLB:

A big outside linebacker/defensive end hybrid, Wilson recorded three tackles Friday versus Washington (D.C.) Ballou. He also had a reception for 24 yards.

The Warriors are 5-3 on the season and will meet up with Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy on Oct. 28.
