Andrew White commits to Kansas

Most expected Charlottesville (VA) The Miller School prospect Andrew White to announce his college decision Friday evening. However, the athletic wing made his announcement Friday afternoon in his home town of Richmond, Va. in an interview with NBC 12 – and his choice sent fist-pumps surging throughout Jayhawk Nation.

Let the sighs of relief - and the high-fives - throughout Jayhawk Nation begin.

Thursday, Andrew White - rated the No. 52 prospect in the Class of 2012 by - spread the word that his college decision would come Friday afternoon.

True to his word, he announced via a televised interview with his hometown NBC affiliate - WWBT out of Richmond, Va.

"I've decided to attend the University of Kansas to play college basketball," White said.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound wing cited numerous reasons for choosing the Jayhawks.

"I think it was a huge opportunity there to play," he told NBC 12. "And I have a great relationship with the staff. Coach (Joe) Dooley and (Head Coach) Bill Self, they've been good to me. And seeing them play on TV many times, I just see an opportunity to play and their style fits my strengths."
