Familiar name on Kansas radar

Kansas head coach Charlie Weis and his assembled staff have made the wide receiver position a priority in their early recruiting efforts, and recently, a name familiar to Jayhawks fans has popped up on the radar as one to watch.

In the past week, Kansas staffers have called Round Rock (TX) Westwood High School to check in on wide receiver Desmond Wyatt.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver is the son of current University of Texas wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt who, in 2010, held the same position under former head coach Turner Gill with the Jayhawks. It was his second coaching stint on Mount Oread, as he spent 1997-2000 as the Associate Head Coach and offensive coordinator.

During his senior campaign in 2011, the younger Wyatt caught 55 passes for 1,020 yards (an impressive 18.6 ypc average) and 11 touchdowns.
