KC quarterback picks up KU offer

This weekend, Roeland Park (KS) Bishop Miege quarterback Montell Cozart visited the University of Kansas with his parents, for the football program's first Junior Day recruiting event. It proved to be time well spent, as the 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal-caller left Lawrence, Kan. with his first Division One offer.

The recruiting process may be extremely early for the Class of 2013, but Roeland Park (KS) Bishop Miege quarterback Montell Cozart has already crossed one sizable milestone.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal caller picked up his first BCS offer this week, while on a Junior Day visit to the University of Kansas. During a meeting with Cozart and his parents, Kansas head coach Charlie Weis indicated the early offers coming out of Lawrence, Kan. would be limited - but he was one of the exceptions.

"I was thinking my head, 'Wow, I just pick dup my first Division One offer," Cozart said.

That the Jayhawks were the first program to step up and offer is something which will definitely factor in to his recruitment.

"That's very big coming from a school that's only 30-45 minutes away from home," Cozart said. "Which is also a good thing, because I don't want to be too far away from my family."

This weekend, Cozart has a potential visit to Nebraska lined up up, followed by trips to Iowa State and Kansas State.
