Rhodes picks up KU offer

Stilwell (KS) Blue Valley offensive tackle Clay Rhodes may prove to be the top prospect in the state of Kansas from the Class of 2013, and Wednesday he picked up his fourth offer - this time from the home-state Kansas Jayhawks.

Clay Rhodes, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound offensive tackle, received an e-mail from Kansas recruiting coordinator Rob Ianello on Tuesday, asking if he could make time to speak with Head Coach Charlie Weis.

So Rhodes wasn't entirely unprepared for the offer he received from Weis on Wednesday, but he was "extremely excited" nonetheless.

"I'm definitely going to consider KU," he said. "I've grown up going to KU games and watching KU basketball."

A visitor to Kansas Football's junior day event two weekends ago, he has already developed a strong relationship with offensive line coach Tim Grunhard.

"I've spent more time with Grunhard than I have with any other college coach that I've been talking to," Rhodes said. "Talking to Coach Grunhard is like talking to a friend."

The Kansas offer is the fourth for the athletic left tackle, along with Kansas State, Missouri and Tulsa.
