Cozart solid with the Jayhawks

A little more than a week ago, Head Coach Charlie Weis and the Kansas Jayhawks scored a big commitment when Roeland Park (KS) Bishop Miege quarterback Montell Cozart gave them his verbal pledge.

The 2011 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback is one of the top junior prospects in the state of Kansas. Shortly after his commitment to the Jayhawks, Montell Cozart gave a video interview to Scout.com, during which he intimated he may take additional visits.

Sunday, he clarified things with Phog.net.

"It's a 100-percent solid verbal to KU," Cozart explained. "I don't have anything going on or any visits like that planned. I just got kind of mixed up and stumbled on my words in that interview."

The Jayhawks have been tireless in their pursuit of the athletic quarterback, and have made their pleasure at his commitment evident.

"The other day I was going back and forth with Coach Weis on Facebook," Cozart said. "It's always some type of contact with the coaching staff up there, which is something I'm really happy to have."
