Weis dismisses Garrett, Robinson

The roster of the Kansas football team was shortened by two names Monday, as Head Coach Charlie Weis announced the dismissal of linebacker Colin Garrett and cornerback Chris Robinson for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Of the two, Colin Garrett is potentially the bigger blow to personnel. As a freshman in 2011, Garrett was a rare bright spot on the Kansas defense, playing in six games and earning consistent praise from the coaching staff. He made his debut versus Oklahoma and logged four tackles.

Chris Robinson redshirted during the 2011 campaign and did not see action.

Fortunately for the Jayhawks, both position units will receive reinforcements come the summer. Notre Dame linebacker Anthony McDonald is set to transfer to Kansas, and Class of 2012 signees Courtney Arnick and Schyler Miles could factor into the rotation immediately.

At defensive back, all three signees - Greg Allen, Nasir Moore (JUCO) and Tyree Williams - possess the physical ability to play right away.

Kansas football is in its final week of spring football, and will hold its annual spring game Saturday.
