Freeman considering five

It's been a spring of transition for Allerik Freeman, one of the top combo guards in the Class of 2012, after he joined AAU powerhouse Boo Williams for his final season on the circuit. A time of transition, but a fun one as well. Tuesday, caught up with the five-star guard to discuss his play thus far and get the latest on his recruitment.

The team started off slow during the opening weekend of Nike EYBL play in Minneapolis, but picked it up last weekend at their home tournament - EYBL Hampton.

"This is our first year together," Allerik Freeman said. "New offense, new players. We're all good players, we're just trying to gel right now. Next time we step onto the court, when we get it we'll go on a roll. Once we get some wins and get our confidence up, that's when we become unstoppable."

In early March, word spread that Freeman had cut his list of suitors on the recruiting trail to two - Kansas and Villanova.

There was a slight miscommunication, he said, as the list was actually cut to four schools. Kansas, Villanova, UCLA and Ohio State all found a home on his list, and in recent weeks the Duke Blue Devils have joined the party as well.

Freeman maintains a strong relationship with the Kansas staff, however, and the Jayhawks have been on him since the beginning.

"We have a great relationship, I think," he said. "Just going through the recruiting process they've been recruiting me and I'm getting to know them, getting to know the program better."

Still, Freeman maintains he is high on all the schools recruiting him, and none have yet managed to achieve separation from the pack. And while no direct timeframe has been established, he would ideally like to make a decision before the start of his senior basketball season. Top Stories
