Newell shows out big at NUC combine

Hiawatha (KS) High defensive lineman Peyton Newell figures to be one of the top prospects in the Midlands region in the Class of 2014, and with the spring and summer combine circuit once again underway, he's back to showing everyone what all the fuss is about.

This weekend, Peyton Newell participated in the National Underclassmen Combine event in Kansas City, and per his father, Frank, walked away with MVP honors.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman posted impressive numbers in the various physical performance drills, running a 4.89-second 40-yard dash, a 4.4-second shuttle, a broad jump of 8-feet, 10 inches and a 30-inch vertical leap. He also bench posted 28 repetitions on the 185-pound bench press.

Newell recently picked up his first scholarship offer, from TCU. He's also receiving intense interest from a plethora of additional BCS programs, including the likes of Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma State and Stanford.
