"I wasn't really ready for all of the classes, and they had us sitting in some really cold rooms," said Jackson. "But, I learned a lot about leadership, and eating right and staying healthy and did my best to take something from it."
Still, Jackson knows that he made the trip to Indianapolis to play hoops and not to learn about the dangers of the "Mike and Ike Diet". He also knew exactly what he wanted to show those in attendance.
"I've been working on the post moves and my outside game and I think I am picking it up some," Jackson said about his revamped game. "Still, playing on the block and rebounding is my strength and I am trying to do that too."
As for a self assessment of his work at Nike?
"I'm decent, I don't say I am great because I have only been playing basketball for three years. But, I'm getting there and think I'm on my way to being a great basketball player."
When it comes to schools, Darnell has five on his mind and he said several times that he will likely wait until after his senior season before making a choice because he needs to research each school. Kansas, Oklahoma (offer), Illinois, New Mexico (offer) and Arizona are the schools that he is most interested in and he says that everyone is tied right now and he thinks each school has their own unique qualities.
About Kansas: "I love Bill Self. He's a good man and he likes a big man like me who runs the floor and rebounds and blocks shots."
About Oklahoma: "They are recruiting me to be a five year guy and want me to red shirt for a year. I think I can be a good four year guy, but if it makes me better I am open."
About Illinois: "I'm taking it slow right now and need to get to know the new staff."
About New Mexico: "They are recruiting me real hard and I like the atmosphere there and their players."
About Arizona: "They just called in the last week or so and I need to find out more about them and do some research."
Jackson would like to major in business management and he is well aware of the level of fame that hoops prospects can receive on the ‘Net. That fame is something he isn't really worried about though.
"I don't worry about it (the Internet) and I am not really concerned with all that stuff that people will write," finished Jackson. "I'm just happy to be playing ball right now."
