Dineen solid to Kansas

Two-star prospect Joe Dineen talks about his commitment to Kansas and where he expects to play at the next level.

Kansas commit Joe Dineen has starred on both sides of the ball for his high school team this season. He has been successful at quarterback and safety.

His team is off to a good start to the season and he likes the player that he is becoming.

"It's going good," said Dineen. "As a team, we're 6-1. We are where we need to be. I think I'm having a good year individually."

"I'm still learning the game," he added. "I'm preparing for games week by week. I have real good size and I'm trying to get faster. I like to think that I'm a smart football player."

When he arrives on campus he expects to begin at defense for the Jayhawks but hopes for a chance as the signal caller.

"They have told me that they like me on defense," confirmed Dineen. "I'd get a chance at quarterback if I have a good year on offense. It is something that I like hearing because I think I'm good on that size of the ball and what I would like to play if I had the choice."

Dineen spoke about his conversations with the Kansas coaching staff.

"They haven't told me their thoughts on my game yet," he stated. "I got offered on a visit and was called in and offered same time as others. They haven't talked position but we talk as normal people. We talk about once every two weeks or so."

Dineen has yet to take his official visit to Kansas but hopes to after his season ends. He is enjoying his time committed to the Jayhawks and is excited to arrive on campus.

"Life as a Kansas visit is good," he mentioned. "In Lawrence, you feel a little famous. I know I have to keep training and keep getting better."

The two-star prospect shared his thoughts on the Jayhawks' season so far.

"I see an improvement from last year," he noted. "They are doing good defensively. They can always work on some things and I hope to come in and help with that."

Is he a solid commit?

"I"m 100 percent committed," he affirmed. "If a school ever came at me with a quarterback option I would be tempted to take a look. I'm not sure that will happen and I'm content with where I'm at right now with Kansas."
