Garland (TX) defensive tackle Lay'trion Jones received an offer from Kansas three weeks ago. It was an offer he was excited about and decided an official visit to check out the Jayhawks was something he wanted to do.
Jones made the trip for the official visit this past weekend. It went well enough for him to call it his next home.
"I'm committed to Kansas," said Jones. "I committed straight to Coach Weis. He was very excited to hear about it. They identified me late but said I was one of the top defensive tackles they had seen all year."
As a typical defensive tackle, the food was a highlight for Jones during his official visit to Lawrence.
"It was a great time," he mentioned. "I loved the eating. They feed you well on those. It was nice to check out the campus too since I hadn't been there before."
Jones detailed a couple reasons why Kansas was the right school for him.
"I liked how the players and coaches were and how they dealt with each other," he explained. "They really were a family. That's something I've been looking for.
"It feels great to be a Jayhawk," he added. "They promised me it would be the best decision I ever made."
