Kansas basketball will be in a familiar Monday spot this upcoming season. The Big 12 announced that the Jayhawks will appear on ESPN’s Big Monday package four times, the most in the league.
Kansas will host two of the games, while traveling in the other two contests. It’ll begin with a January 19 game inside Allen Fieldhouse against Oklahoma. Two weeks later, Fred Hoiberg’s Iowa State Cyclones visit Lawrence. Iowa State knocked Kansas out of last March’s Big 12 Championship with a victory in the semifinal game.
The last two Big Monday games will come on the road in consecutive weeks, as the Jayhawks visit West Virginia on February 16, followed by a game at Kansas State a week later, a place where Kansas lost a year ago.
Since the inception of the Big 12 in the 1996-97 season, Kansas is 52-17 all-time on ESPN’s Big Monday including a 29-1 record at home, and a mark of 23-16 on the road, including 33-9 under head coach Bill Self. The Jayhawks have won 22-straight Big Monday games in Allen Fieldhouse, including a 18-0 mark under Self.
