Kansas linebacker commit Jay Dineen got to reunite with family on his official visit with the Jayhawks last weekend, as his older brother Joe (current Kansas LB) showed him around campus.
“He’s excited to get me there for good come summer, and finally get to work together,” Jay said about his brother. “Brothers tend to push each other, so it’ll be fun to see where we push each other. It’ll help us a ton.”
The visit re-affirms Dineen’s decision to become a Jayhawk.
“I had a blast. I got to eat with and talk to all the coaches. I got to hang out with some of the players that were there,” he said. “They made me feel like it was home, and I’m excited for Wednesday to finally make it official.
“I hung out with him, my brother (Joe Dineen) was the person who took me around. I hung out with Keith Loneker, Keaton Perry, Jayson Rhodes, Jace Sternberger, and a bunch of those guys.”
Dineen is excited about some of the new players that have already started in the spring semester.
“I got to meet a lot of players and many of the early enrollees. I got to meet Peyton Bender, and he’s a cool guy,” Dineen said about the JUCO transfer quarterback. “You can see the love he has for sports. Even when we were playing Madden, it got pretty heated. If you don’t want to lose in Madden, you’re definitely not going to want to lose for real.”
With an early-summer enrollment slated for Dineen, he feels he still have a lot of preparation in front of him.
“They want me to come in ready to work in the summer. They want me to come in shape and be ready to work,” Dineen said. “They want me to come in thinking I have a chance to start, so I’m going to give it my all.”
