Self visiting new 2017 4-star shooting guard offer

Kansas coach Bill Self is wasting no time in visiting new 2017 shooting guard offer Thomas Allen.

Kansas coach Bill Self made the offer Monday, and was planning to visit four-star shooting guard Thomas Allen Thursday.

"Coach Self called me and made the offer," Allen said. "He said he needs a guard who can shoot and handle it."

Allen asked for and was granted his release from North Carolina State shortly after the Wolfpack hired new head coach Kevin Keatts.

He announced Monday night that he's got a new offer — this one from Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks.

"I'm excited about the offer from coach Self," Allen said. "He just was named to the Hall of Fame.

"I know they have some of the best fans in the nation. It's Kansas. The name speaks for itself."

Allen told Scout's Brian Snow that he intended to take his time with his decision moving forward, and other schools are likely to join in the fray. He originally decided on North Carolina State over offers from Nebraska, Saint Louis and Texas A&M. He said he's also heard from Memphis, Kentucky and Michigan of late.

"I don't have a time frame," Allen said. "I'm just going to play it out and see how everything goes." Top Stories
