Tony Hull called, and it made an immediate impact for Warren Easton Charter (New Orleans, La.) High School cornerback Chester Kimbrough.
Hull coaches Kimbrough at Warren Easton, and now wants to coach him at Kansas. Hull and the Jayhawk staff extended an offer earlier this week.
"It has an impact," Kimbrough said about Hull's involvement in his recruitment. "Even though I only experienced one year with him really loved how he carried the team. He saw a great athlete in me and took his step to get me where I need to go."
It was just Kimbrough's second offer, so the Jayhawks are in early - with Tulane being the other current suitor for the 2019 defensive back.
"I've been talking to Tyreik Starks and Big Malik (Clark) and they always talk to me about how great the environment is out there and how it's different from New Orleans," Kimbrough said. "The football team's work ethic is at 100 percent and when I had got the offer I was excited cause I can have a chance to play with two of my former teammates and ball out at the next level.
"The offer came out of no where I was shocked."
