Jayhawks reaching out to 2019 4-star NC wing

The Jayhawks have recently been chatting with a 4-star 2019 wing out of North Carolina.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Cox Mill (Concord, N.C.) wing Wendell Moore knows when coaches are in the gym to watch him play — and he saw that a lot in the early portion of the evaluation period.

“My biggest thing is relationships with the coaches. It’s great to see coaches at every game. Not just one or two, but every game. That shows me they value me as a player and a person,” Moore said. “I see Carolina a lot. Wake Forest — Danny (Manning) is there a lot. Maryland checks in on me a lot. Wake, Maryland, UNC are probably on me the most.”

The 6-foot-5 four-star wing continues to see his stock rise.

“I’ve been a lot more aggressive this spring — scoring the ball and making plays for our team,” Moore said. “I’ve been doing whatever is needed for the win. Our margin of victory has been 14 points, so something is working well.

“I’m working on my outside jump shot. It’s coming along. I just have to get more reps.”

Though assistant coach Steve Woodberry is Moore’s main recruiter, he’s seeing a lot of the entire Wake coaching staff.

“I see him, Danny and even Randolph (Childress) often in the stands. They message me almost every day,” Moore said. “They tell me that I would be ‘the man’ there.”

Moore said his recruitment is picking up a lot of steam.

"Kansas is sending stuff in the mail," he said. "They are saying they will get out to watch me soon."

It’s a long way to go before Moore will make a decision, but he’s got some criteria in mind moving forward.

“It’s where I fit the most, and what college will help prepare me for the NBA, because that’s where I want to be,” he said.
