Border War still on

KU Volleyball continues 'Border War' at Mizzou Wednesday.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Kansas volleyball team will look for its fourth consecutive win and continue the 'Border War' series Wednesday night against Missouri (10-3, 3-1 Big 12) at the Hearnes Center. The Jayhawks (10-4, 2-1 Big 12) and Tigers will square off in a Big 12 Conference matchup at 7 p.m.

Kansas will leave the friendly confines of the Horejsi Family Athletics Center where the 'Hawks picked up three consecutive wins over Colorado, UMKC and Baylor dating back to Sept. 20.

KU is led by freshman Janaina Correa, who leads the Kansas offense with 3.85 kills per game. Junior libero Jill Dorsey leads the Jayhawk defense with 3.72 digs per game while senior Sarah Rome ranks second in both categories, averaging 3.55 kills and 2.96 digs per game.

The Tigers are coming off a 3-1 loss Friday to No. 25 Texas A&M in College Station. Missouri, undefeated at home this season, picked up Big 12 wins over Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas Tech earlier this season.

Missouri leads the all-time series against Kansas 35-32, dating back to Oct. 31, 1975, when MU prevailed 2-0 in the teams' first meeting (Kansas' first year of competition). The 'Hawks lost to the Tigers twice last season but posted a 3-1 win in Columbia on Nov. 3, 2001.

KU took a 3-0 lead in the 2003 Kansas/Missouri 'Border War' Saturday when the Jayhawk football team upset the No. 23 Tigers 35-17 at Memorial Stadium. Top Stories
