However, the 6-9 forward from Poplar Bluff (MO) High has decided to postpone his visit for that. If you can believe it, being a regular high school kid has thrown a monkey wrench into his recruiting.
"I need to get caught up with my schoolwork this weekend and we're having a big football game that a lot of my friends are in," said Hansbrough.
That's right, Poplar Bluff is playing rival high school Jackson in a game that will decide the conference championship, and Tyler would like to be one of the 9,000 or so fans expected to be on hand.
As for rescheduling a visit to KU, Hansbrough says that it is a possibility but he doesn't have any kind of timeframe with the fast approaching high school season. He does have some opinions on Kansas though.
"I like Bill Self and the tradition. I'd want to see how I fit into their system though."
As arguably the top power forward in the country, Hansbrough can pretty much pick any destination in the country and go there, but he is being thorough. Also, after learning about how an innocent comment can spawn a deluge of phone calls he has decided to play it close to the vest when it comes to which way he is leaning, and considers everybody equal for now.
He did enjoy his recent unofficial visit to Missouri.
"I really liked it a lot," said Hansbrough. "It is close to home, they have really nice fan support and I like all of their players."
Look for Hansbrough to put together a solid list of finalists soon as he eyes a decision in the spring, but for now he will keep it tight lipped and only hinted that, "there are some schools that I like, but some that are going to get cut."
