Baseball continues fall ball games

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- The Kansas baseball team continued fall workouts, Wednesday, at Hoglund Ballpark, as Blue defeated Crimson, 5-4, in a nine inning intrasquad matchup.

Senior Ryan Knippschild worked the first five innings for the Blue squad, limiting Crimson to two hits and two runs. The Rancho Cordova, Calif., native struck out two and did not allow a walk.

Senior Ryan Baty and sophomore Matt Baty led Blue offensively going 2-for-4 and 3-for-5, respectively.

Senior Chris Smart allowed two runs on five hits through 4.1 innings of work for Crimson as junior Mike Zagurski came on in relief. Zagurski, a junior transfer from Hutchinson Community College, worked 3.2 innings, surrendered two hits and fanned five.

Junior transfer Travis Dunlap paced the Crimson team by going 2-for-4 at the plate while senior Matt Tribble also turned in a 2-for-4 effort.

Junior Jacob Jean and redshirt sophomore Chris Jones are scheduled to start today's 3 p.m. intrasquad game. Senior Brandon Johnson and junior transfers Michael Saddler and Andrew Rebar will appear in relief beginning in the sixth inning. Top Stories
