Visit rescheduled for Texas WR

Kansas football recruit Patrick Williams - a 6'2" wide receiver from the Lone Star State - was supposed to visit Lawrence on an official this weekend. However, Desoto High School is still alive in the Texas state playoffs.

"They called last night, and I told them about the game. It's just a bump in the road, we'll have to reschedule."

If his team wins, Williams would have to do the same thing next weekend with Colorado. The Buffs are planning to have him on campus November 29th for their contest against Nebraska.

Other schools recruiting the wide receiver include Kansas State, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Utah. Williams has an official visit slated for mid December with the Utes.

KU could have an inside track on Williams because one of his peers is doing big things for the Jayhawks. Sophomore wide out Mark Simmons attended Desoto High with Williams. Simmons leads the Jayhawks this season with 757 receiving yards.

"Mark is a good player, and Kansas is an upcoming program," said Williams.

Williams likes the fact that he would have the chance to contribute right away if he came to Lawrence.

"KU is one of the schools on the top of my list because of immediate playing time."

The senior in high school watched freshmen quarterback Adam Barmann under center for Kansas on television against Nebraska.

"He's impressive, especially as a freshmen stepping into a starters role and leading the offense." Top Stories
