DALLAS- Kansas freshman J.R. Giddens averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds in two wins and is the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week.
Giddens had his best week as a Jayhawk by averaging 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in KU's wins over Fort Hays State (80-40) and Oregon (77-67). A 6-5 freshman guard from Oklahoma City, Giddens started the week by tying a then-career-high with 12 points to go with a career-best 10 rebounds for his first career double-double against Fort Hays State. Later in the week, Giddens set a new career-high with 18 points against Oregon. He also pulled down seven rebounds against the Ducks. Giddens has scored in double figures in three of KU's last four contests.
