Local two sport athlete looking to narrow focus

Dain Dillingham has altered his thoughts on college choices dramatically in the past month. The Division I caliber wide receiver has changed his focus from football to basketball at the next level.

"Right now, I'm thinking about Cornell."

When asked the chances of Cornell being his final decision, Dain Dillingham indicated, "it's probably around 80 percent."

Tulsa could be another option, the Golden Hurricane has been recruiting the two sport athlete for the gridiron.

The shooting guard explains the positives with Cornell.

"It's a great opportunity both education wise and for basketball."

Dillingham carries a 3.7 GPA at Free State High School in Lawrence, KS. The 6'2" guard scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the Firebirds lopsided 110 to 65 win against crosstown rival Lawrence High before Christmas.

When asked why he swayed away from football, the senior's answer was simple.

"Kansas State and Minnesota signed other receivers." Dillingham went on to say that the Kansas coaching staff had not talked to him in quite some time.

Dillingham stated that the next step for attending Cornell was to make sure the application process went smoothly. His next high school basketball game is January 9th when Free State hooks up with Shawnee Mission South.
