KU vs Colorado

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- No. 12 Kansas defeated the Colorado Buffaloes, 78-57 at Allen Fieldhouse. The win marks KU's 21st straight home win over a Big 12 opponent and improves KU's record to 12-3 overall, 4-0 in the Big 12.

Simien led the way in the first half with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds. CU's Blair Wilson hit a three point shot at the 15:23 mark to give the Buffaloes their only lead of the game, 10-8. The KU defense held the Buffaloes to 5-of-28 shooting in the first stanza and outscored Colorado 33-11 for the remainder of the half to go into the break with a 41-21 lead.

Colorado's five field goals made in the first half were the least made by a KU opponent since UMKC made just five in the first half on Jan. 4, 2003. The Buffaloes' 17.9 percent shooting from the floor was the lowest by a Jayhawk opponent since Binghamton shot the same in the first stanza on Dec. 29. It also marked the lowest field goal percentage by a Big 12 opponent since Oklahoma shot just 16.1 percent against KU in the first stanza on Feb. 20, 1999.

The Kansas defense kept up the pressure in the second half and held Colorado to 29.3 percent shooting for the game. The 'Hawks have held 66 straight opponents under 100 points and have held 73 of their last 75 opponents under 50 percent shooting from the field, including all 14 opponents this season.
