Junior forward Wayne Simien led all scorers with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting to go with eight rebounds. Junior guard Keith Langford added 22 points and grabbed four rebounds, while junior guard Aaron Miles dished out 10 assists. Junior guard Michael Lee came off the bench and scored 12 points to go with four rebounds.
Simien and Langford combined for 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead the 'Hawks in the first stanza. KU senior forward Jeff Graves capped a 12-0 run after a steal and fast break dunk at the 12:23 mark. The dunk gave the Crimson and Blue its biggest lead of the first half, 20-7. The Jayhawk defense held the Sooners scoreless for almost five minutes until Jason Detrick capitalized off a Jayhawk turnover with a layup at the 10:39 mark. Oklahoma cut into the Jayhawk lead after a 6-0 run that ended with a Jabahri Brown layup at the 1:54 mark that made the score 33-29. The Jayhawks shot 55.6 percent from the field and led at the break, 36-31.
The Jayhawks outscored Oklahoma 22-12 in the paint and shot 51.6 percent from the field in the second half. The 'Hawks outscored the Sooners 43-27 to come away with a 79-58 victory. KU is now 17-0 when scoring at least 70 points this season and has now held 75 straight opponents under 100 points.
Lawrence McKenzie led OU with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Drew Lavender scored eight points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists.
