Jayhawks Sign Offensive Lineman

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- The University of Kansas football team received another commitment for the upcoming season as California prep offensive lineman Matt Darton signed a letter of intent to play for the Jayhawks in 2004 coach Mark Mangino announced Thursday.

Matt Darton, a senior at University City High School in San Diego, Calif., collected more than 90 knock-down blocks during his high school career, including 18 against Santana high school .

A 6-foot-6, 295-pounder, he was the Defensive MVP at University City HS as a freshman. Also an outstanding student, Darton is a two-time member of the San Diego Union Tribune's All-Academic team.

Darton joins 21 other players who signed with the Jayhawks this season.
