Sophomore Benson Chesang improved on his provisional qualifying time by finishing with a season-best time of 8:01.26 in the 3000-meter run. The time ranks as the second-fastest time in KU indoor history. Junior Kim Clark provisionally qualified in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 2:08.47. Freshman Octavia Garret finished sixth in the 400-meter dash at the Iowa State Invitational. Garret's time of 55.05 is the second-fastest 400-meter time in KU indoor history. Senior Duchess Williams finished seventh in the 400-meter dash with the fourth-fastest time (55.73) in KU indoor history.
Senior Leo Bookman is the only Jayhawk that has automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Bookman won the 200-meter dash title at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in a national-best time of 20.58. Bookman's time broke the Big 12 meet record, Devaney Center record and is the second-fastest time in the world this year, according to the IAAF. The NCAA entry list will be finalized later this week.
