There are a couple of new schools in the picture for West Coast recruit Jon Brockman. Brockman is still in the preliminary stages of narrowing down his options. In addition to Kansas, Arizona, Stanford, Gonzaga, Washington, and Purdue who have all had their names in the hat for quite some time are a couple of East Coast powers who recently joined the race.
Duke and North Carolina are now pursuing the physical power forward who hails from Snohomish, Washington. Brockman explains when these ACC schools became involved. "North Carolina has been sending me stuff for a little bit. Duke is recent, within the past two weeks."
The blue chip post player describes what interests him about UNC. "It's a big time basketball program. Roy Williams is a great coach, and it's such a good program." The power forward had similar compliments when asked about Duke.
Brockman had some positive things to say about Kansas as well. "I liked watching their big men this year, and I think highly of Coach Self.
The 6'8" 245 lb. Brockman has an official visit set up with UCLA on May 14th. The Bruins have already offered, so has Washington. Brockman explains why he has scheduled an official with UCLA. "I'm interested in UCLA, and they asked me to take a visit."
Criminal Justice and Business appear to be options for Brockman in terms of potential majors in college. After his visit to UCLA, it's up in the air as to where else the prep star will visit. "I am looking for a school with good academics, a nice program, and a good coach."
Brockman went on to give some more factors. "I want to get a good education. I just want to find the right fit for me where I feel comfortable on and off the floor. I will be spending the next four years with my teammates so I want to feel comfortable in that area."
