"It was a good call for him for what he was looking for. They've (Notre Dame) always been in the top 3-4 schools since his recruitment started. Notre Dame was probably the second team in here when he was a freshman.
"He's always been very impressed with them. When it got down to time to eliminate schools, there were three or four he was really considering and Kansas was one of them. His final decision came last weekend when he visited Notre Dame and played with the kids. I think he just really liked the ratio of teachers to students there and being able to stay in Indiana, staying somewhat close to home."
Omer said that the Jayhawks and Illini both did an excellent job of recruiting Zeller, but in the end just came up a little short.
"Kansas and Illinois were the other two schools that he was real serious with. I thought (Danny) Manning and (Bill) Self did a great job with him. They were real impressive and he thought long and hard about them. It's just a shame you can't play for all of them, but you can't."
