Phog.net has just learned that Alex Galindo, a 6-7 SF from St. Benedict Prep has given his commitment to play basketball for Bill Self at the University of Kansas. Downs announced his plans to attend KU on KLWN's, "Rock Chalk Sports Talk" with Brian Hanni and Jud Easterday.
Phog.net and Prepstars.com's Eric Bossi had this to say about Alex Galindo:
"Considering when Kansas added him to the fold, Bill Self has to be tickled with picking up Galindo and Kansas fans should be looking forward to seeing him play."
"He's a tough wing forward who is solid, but not great, in just about every phase of the game. He rebounds well, scores, defends and most of all - he knows how to win. You can't go wrong adding a versatile player like him to your program.
Dave Telep, National Recruiting Director for TheInsiders.com added:
"Alex Galindo isn't your typical spring signee. Normally, guys of his stature are not made available in the month of May. That's why he's an important recruit. While most schools are settling for the best available, this kid is a legit talent. He's multi-lingual and mutli-positional, the latter being the most important to Kansas. He's got a shooter's touch with range and he's also a solid, unselfish passer. He was the MVP of the 2002 Slam Dunk To The Beach."
