“I'm very excited to be a part of Phog.net,” says Gurley. “For years my diehard Jayhawk buddies (I won't give away their clever usernames) have asked me questions about posts they read on Phog.net. I just kept hearing about “phog.net” over and over again so I became a loyal follower,” says Gurley.
Joel Cox, Phog.net owner comments, “We are very fortunate to have Greg join the Phog.net team. As well as being a good friend, he’s a very capable analyst and a fan favorite. We are continually focusing on enhancing the Jayhawk fan experience and Greg’s involvement at Phog and Jayhawk Illustrated is another step toward achieving that goal. We fully expect to make some additional announcements in the coming months regarding other KU athletes joining the Phog team.”
Providing game analysis is nothing new to Gurley, but in the past it’s been limited to on-air work. Gurley explains “When Joel first approached me about participating on Phog, I was immediately intrigued. Trying my hand at writing will certainly be a new challenge. My strengths will be breaking down the game and the players throughout the year and answering any questions or commenting on observations and opinions of all the loyal followers of Phog.net. I think I am going to write a few articles a month, host some chat sessions, and write a game summary after all of our home games, and make it out to a Phog.net tailgate or two. I'm willing to offer my opinion on just about any topic, so I’m anxious to hear from Jayhawk fans.”
Phog.net owner Tom Light is equally excited about this move for Phog.net, “Greg’s joining the Phog team is huge for us, as he’ll be able to help strengthen Phog.net’s ties to KU players past and present. I’m sure all of our members are going to love the opportunity to regularly interface with Greg and other former KU players, as well as having the opportunity to go one on one with Greg and his game analysis on the message board. We’re all thrilled to have Greg join the Phog team.”Greg Gurley played for the Jayhawks from 1992-95 and served as co-captain during the 1994-95 season.
