Douglas-Roberts narrowing the field

The high speed recruitment of Chris Douglas-Roberts reduced to a slow limp when Mario Chalmers announced he was heading to Kansas last May.

However, Chalmers is a legit point guard where as CDR plays the one and two. Douglas-Roberts is not as interested in KU as he once was, but he would still think about playing for Bill Self if the offer was there.

"I plan on announcing a top 5 next week," said Douglas-Roberts last week. He is still looking seriously at Arizona, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Miami and Memphis. Florida and UCLA lost some interest in CDR when they watched a couple of his games.

"Once they saw me play and realized I wasn't a true point guard, they backed off."

Douglas-Roberts wasn't sure if KU has followed the Gators and Bruins lead.

"I haven't talked to Coach Self in a while. I'm not sure if they are as interested now as they once were."

Douglas-Roberts was toying with the idea of contacting Self at some point.

"I may call Coach Self sometime this weekend as see where they are," he said last week.

Since Kansas doesn't appear to be a major player anymore, how does Arizona look to the Detroit product?

"They have a great tradition of developing guards. It could depend on what (Mustafa) Shakur does. I have a feeling he could go to the league after next season."

The combo guard has not taken a single official visit yet, he plans on taking some trips to schools this fall. His Detroit based AAU team, The Family has completed their Summer AAU schedule. Top Stories
