Langara competes in the British Columbia Colleges' Athletic Association (BCCAA) where the Falcons have won 16 BCCAA Provincial Titles and 12 BCCAA League Titles in men's basketball.
Last year Langara finished 9-9 in league play under head coach Simon Dykstra who enters his fourth season with the Falcons. A two-year college that enrolls more than 12,000, Langara returns three players from last year's team.
The Falcons have won two Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) national championships in men's basketball in 1998 and 1999. Both teams were coaches by current UBC head coach Kevin Hanson, who Bill Self faced yesterday.

The UCFV exhibition team is comprised current and former players from the university in addition to alums and top players from Trinity Western. Like KU, the Cascades will play a doubleheader on Sept. 5. Fraser Valley will face UNLV at 11 a.m. and Kansas at 7 p.m.
UCFV won the CCAA National Gold Medal tournament last year after finishing second in the BCCAA with a 14-4 record. Cariboo won the league at 15-3. UCFV has won three CCAA national titles with all in the new millennium - 2000, 2002 and 2004. The Cascades have finished either first or second in the BCCAA regular season in each of the last five seasons with three league titles. Pat Lee is the head coach at UCFV as he enters his 10th season
Kansas senior Wayne Simien scored 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Jayhawks to an 82-51 win at the University of British Columbia on Saturday.

All four games of the Canada exhibition games are airing on the Jayhawk Radio Network. Brian Hanni will handle the play by play. Hanni is a covers the Jayhawks on a daily basis as sports director KLWN (1320 AM) as well as a writer with Phog.net and Jayhawk Illustrated magazine. Former basketball player Brett Ballard will handle the play by play.
