According his father, Calvin, the process has been interesting.
“It has had its ups and downs and been a good experience,” Miles told Phog.net. “It’s been a good learning experience for us to. The biggest thing that he has had to learn is that there is a business like side to all of this.”
“I know that he dreams of playing at the next level and he has to make the decision that best prepares him for that. All of these guys are great, but you can only play at one school. Some folks you can make happy, but you can’t make everybody happy.”
“I tell him all the time, ‘you have every high school kid’s dream’.”
Having only visited Kansas officially at this point, C.J. Miles is still planning to take visits to Georgia Tech and Texas before making any decision. However, there is always room for plans to change and the only certainty at this point appears to be a visit to Georgia Tech.
“I think it’s to the point where he makes these other visits and then he’ll be ready to get it over with,” said Mr. Miles. “He’s got Georgia Tech next weekend and then he’s got Texas. I know he’ll take the Georgia Tech visit for sure, after that anything can happen. But the plan right now is to take both visits.”
If Paul Hewitt and company are hoping to land the sweet shooting lefty, they are going to have to make up some ground because the Jayhawks and Longhorns have surged ahead at this point according to Mr. Miles.
“I can say that Kansas and Texas are pretty close to each other and Georgia Tech is falling behind some,” said Miles. “He always has liked Kansas and Texas and being close helps some but you have to look at who’s there and who’s leaving. If you ask him what’s most important it is playing time and he needs to be sure that he is going to be able get time.”
