Scout.com's Team Recruiting Rankings include rankings for all 117 Division I-A football teams. The rankings include conference summary data and breakouts of the top classes by position. The rankings are sortable by such criteria as number of commitments, number of Scout.com Hot 100 members, five-star commitments, offensive commitments, defense commitments and more.
The rankings can be viewed at the following web page:
The Scout.com rankings are updated at least daily, early morning, until national signing day, Feb. 2, 2005. The previous day's commitments and de-commitments are reflected in each team's revised rankings.
"The launch of this feature solidifies our status as the industry leader in the coverage of college sports online, and the coverage of college prospects in particular," said Jim Heckman, CEO of Scout.com. "We have taken great pains to create a fun and exciting feature for our users, one that is lightyears better than the original, which we also created. We have the best recruiting analysts in the business and we have paired their expertise with great technology. This is a big win for our users."
The Scout.com team delivered the industry's first consensus team rankings back in 1999 while at RivalNetworks, which was founded by Heckman and the team that later founded (in 2001) TheInsiders.com, now known as Scout.com.
"We are tremendously excited for our users on our network. They demand the best in recruiting coverage and we are driven by their passion," Scout.com Product Manager Keith Haynes said.
The Team Recruiting Rankings are driven by evaluations headed by Scout.com's national football recruiting analysts Jamie Newberg and Allen Wallace, who also publishes the venerable Superprep Magazine. They head a team of analysts across the country, who evaluate and rank prospects at hundreds of high-school football games, off-season combines and camps on college campuses and by reviewing miles of game film.
Scout.com is considered the industry leader in the coverage of college prospects and is the official content and selection partner of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the associated U.S. Army National Combine for underclassmen. The network also syndicates its recruiting rankings and content to FOXSports.com, SportsIllustrated.com, SportsLine.com and Yahoo! Sports, reaching more than 38 million sports users per month.
"Scout.com has the nation's top scouts," said Glenn Nelson, Scout.com's editor-in-chief. "The group has more than 100 years of combined experience and is committed to working as a team to produce the best and most accurate evaluations possible. The team rankings feature only is as true-to-form as the data on which they are based. Ours is based on the best data available."
Newberg said, "We work very hard to come up with the best evaluations and so much goes into the rankings of prospects - scouting games, camps, combines, practices and, of course, watching countless hours of game film and highlight tapes. It's a constant and fluid situation and the individual player ratings evolve month to month. Here, we are near the finish line and that hard work will be seen via our new feature - automation of the team recruiting rankings. We are so excited to add this important feature to the Scout.com network."
Scout.com is the No. 1 independent sports network on the Internet. Scout has more than 2.2 million audited monthly unique users (Nielsen Net Ratings) and reaches more than 38 million users each month through syndication agreements with FOXSports.com, SportsIllustrated.com, SportsLine.com and Yahoo! Sports. Scout syndicates more than 1,000 pieces of content daily to these syndication partners, has secured more than 150,000 current, paid subscribers and publishes, via Citadel Publishing, 39 college, NFL and MLB glossy team magazines. Scout.com and Citadel Publishing are wholly owned and operated by Seattle-based, Citadel Media, Inc.
